How to Make Kids Cat Costume

There are lots of different costume ideas that you may want to dress your kid up in this year, but the kids cat costume is definitely a classic. It is quick and simple to make, just like a kids mummy costume, and if you have more than one child you can even dress them all up as cats and make each a different color. They will love it, and the best part is that cat costumes will work whether your child is a boy or a girl.

Materials

The first step to making your kids cat costume is to gather together the materials that you are going to need. For it you are going to need cardboard, construction paper, a plastic headband, pencil, scissors, tacky glue, socks, large safety pins, craft paint or markers, face paints, a turtleneck, and some leggings.

Preparation

Once you have gathered together everything that you need for your kids cat costume, the next step is for you to start with the ears, and for this you want to draw triangle shapes about 3 inches tall and 2 inches wide on the cardboard. Then you cut out the ears, and cover with some felt. Use hot glue to do this, but make sure that you are doing this part and not letting your child do it because hot glue can be dangerous.

Now for the kids cat costume you want to cover the headband in the same color felt as the ears, then make the cat tail by using a long piece of fabric rolled into a tube and filled with stuffing. The tail is a lot of fun to make, and your child can help you with this part.

For the body of the kids cat costume you want to use a leotard with leggings or a turtleneck with matching sweat pants or skinny pants. Now you just add on the socks and some cute sneakers or other shoes and they are all set and ready to go. They will look great in their little cat costume and you are going to feel really proud of the costume that you have made.

You can even make a cat costume for yourself, the exact same way but of course using larger items. Making a costume can be a lot of fun, but something else that you will appreciate is the fact that you will be saving a ton of money.
